Lee Child, The Reacher Guy, in Coventry Cathedral

April 20 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

£7 – £22

Meet author Lee Child, creator of the much-loved Jack Reacher series. He was born in Coventry and, after announcing his retirement, returns here for one of his final events. He will be in conversation with Dr Heather Martin, his official biographer, and there will be time afterwards for questions. We will have available early copies of his biography, THE REACHER GUY written by Dr Martin. This is a rare chance to meet Lee Child and hear him discuss his work and his life.

There will be early, pre-signed books available exclusively on the night; these will be signed by both Lee Child and biographer, Heather Martin. There will be time to meet and chat to Lee Child after the event, with photos if you like. This event will be very busy, so please may we ask people not to arrive with 24 books to be signed. Instead, we’ve been working with the publisher, Little Brown Books, to create a small memento that all those attending can take away, which will be exclusive to this event.

THE REACHER GUY is the authorised biography of bestselling superstar Lee Child, a portrait of the artist as a young man, refracted through the life of his fictional avatar, Jack Reacher. It tells the story of how the boy from Birmingham reinvented himself to become one of our best-known writers, selling over one hundred million books in more than forty different languages across the globe. Dr Heather Martin interviews friends, teachers, colleagues and neighbours, including agents and editors. Based primarily on her conversations with the author over a period of years, together with readings of his books and research in his archive, this authorised biography reveals the man behind the myth, tracing his origins back through the generations to Northern Ireland and County Durham, and following the trajectory of his extraordinary career via New York and Hollywood until the climactic moment when, in 2020, having written a continuous series of twenty-four books, he finally floats free of his fictional creation.
